Why get a car remap?
A car remap works by reprogramming the Engine Control Unit (ECU) which controls the ignition timing and imposes speed and rev limits on your car engine. These ‘safe’ limits are often put in place by car manufacturers who will set up a car below the threshold of the engine in order that the vehicle will not have any issues during the warranty period. These limits are also imposed in order that car manufacturers can sell cars, which effectively contain the exact same engine, but with different horsepower, which is achieved by tuning and remapping the ECU at the point of production.
A car remap is specific to each make and model of vehicle, and sees the configuration adjusted to remove the restrictions previously imposed on the vehicle. The car remap re-programmes the ECU leading to better performance, and it can even be used to fine tune your car’s fuel economy, determined by the speeds at which you spend the bulk of your time driving.
Speed limit removal
